A TIA Transient ischaemic attack (also known as mini-stroke) can happen to ANYONE at ANYTIME . The symptoms may not last as long as a stroke but they are still just as serious.
My first TIA happened 2 years ago, although I had been suffering crippling head aches for the past week. I put them down to a massive migraine attack ( As I used to suffer from migraines when I was younger) and stress. As it was quite a stressful time. I woke up to find my right hand completely dead next to me. I couldn’t lift it, all my strength had been zapped. I didn’t go to the hospital or doctor as I thought it was just a “funny turn “.
I have suffered on going TIA’s even though I am on medication and had a heart operation to close a hole in my heart. They are still happening. They have taken their toll on me, they have left me physically disabled. With considerable weakness in my right side. It is not just me that are affected by these TIA’s is the whole family. The children do not really understand why mummy can’t do things.
The Stroke Association are running a campaign to make people more aware of Mini-strokes/TIA’s
